2025 Jaguar F-PACE vs. the Competition

It’s easy to find a wide selection of compact luxury SUVs these days but what’s a lot harder is to find one that stands out from the sea of practically uniform German boxes on wheels. That’s why you’ve probably already noticed the Jaguar F-PACE, already a standout in the segment just from its superior styling. However, a closer look reveals even more and Jaguar Easton has prepared an in-depth look at how it compares to some of its biggest German rivals.

Porsche has really emphasized the performance side of the Macan so for this comparison, we’re using the hotter R-Dynamic and S trims. Power remains a key point of emphasis for both models but the F-PACE delivers greater horsepower and torque along with a more sophisticated 8-speed automatic transmission. There are even more powerful versions of each as well but the F-PACE SVR packs a 542-horsepower V8 to the Macan GTS’s 434-horsepower V6 and the Porsche is still more expensive. Comparing mid-level trims is the most logical choice for this matchup.
Speaking of the price difference between the two, the Jaguar starts to look like an even better deal once you start looking at standard equipment. Standard equipment on the Jaguar, like a heated steering wheel, will cost you $280 on the Porsche. It doesn’t end there! Leather upholstery is standard on the F-PACE but costs a minimum of $3,630 for the upgrade in the Macan S. Torque vectoring, something that you really want on a performance vehicle, is an extra $1,500 on the Porsche. Porsche can’t match Jaguar’s warranty either and doesn’t even come close with the complimentary scheduled maintenance coverage. Porsche is ultimately going to charge you more money for a vehicle with less power and less equipment.

Geared more towards practicality than performance, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is more typical of the Jaguar F-PACE’s German competitors than the Porsche Macan is. The starting price of the GLC appears to be better than Jaguar but it quickly becomes a different story once you start looking at the options list. Beginning with interior amenities, you’ll have to pay extra at Mercedes-Benz in order to get a premium audio system, 19-inch wheels, and integrated navigation. The same is true for authentic leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof as well. Add it all up and you’ll find that the GLC actually proves to be the more expensive choice.
We haven’t even considered the daunting list of advantages of the Jaguar F-PACE in terms of driver-assist technologies. Traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control both add tons of confidence behind the wheel. The F-PACE also boasts a higher cargo capacity, a testament to its superior versatility and practicality. Rounding out the list of advantages is a longer term of powertrain warranty coverage and complimentary scheduled maintenance. Clearly, Mercedes-Benz is no match for Jaguar.

Another formidable rival of the Jaguar F-PACE, the BMW X3 starts off with a modest price advantage. As we’ve seen in the prior matchups, this seemingly impressive value quickly evaporates once we take a closer look at the advantages of the F-PACE. Superior city fuel economy along with a significantly larger fuel tank means that you’ll be ready to go the distance when you choose Jaguar.
Premium standard equipment found on the F-PACE includes a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, and genuine leather upholstery. All three will force you to shell out thousands of extra dollars at BMW. Similarly, the F-PACE comes standard with the confidence and convenience of an adaptive cruise control system. A power-adjustable steering column makes it easy to find your ideal driving position as well. More robust warranty coverage and two additional years of complimentary scheduled maintenance round out the list of advantages for the Jaguar F-PACE.

You’ve seen the practical side of the F-PACE, but for this comparison, we figured we would show it matched up against a serious performance machine, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Sure, the German competitors offer performance versions of their SUVs too but the Stelvio actually cracks the 500-horsepower barrier, making it a better match for the powerful F-PACE SVR. That said, the Alfa Romeo comes with noticeably less power from a much smaller engine. On top of that, stopping happens quicker in the Jaguar as well thanks to significantly bigger brakes. The brakes fit easily thanks to the bigger wheels on the F-PACE. You can also get 21-inch wheels on the Quadrifoglio but just that one option will nearly wipe out what little price advantage the Alfa Romeo has all by itself.
We can see that the Jaguar comes with a bigger dose of excitement but what about practicality? The legroom in the F-PACE would certainly be easier to live with than the unusually small space you get in the Stelvio. The cargo space offered by the Stelvio isn’t exceptionally small when compared to a lot of competitors but it is compared to the F-PACE. Also unusually small is the infotainment touchscreen in the Alfa Romeo. This isn’t generally a big deal but it is noteworthy for a vehicle in this price range to have a screen that would look more at home in an economy car. Driver aids are also conspicuously lacking in the Stelvio including some pretty basic ones like lane-keeping assist. You can add these as options but as is the case with 21-inch wheels, it’ll cost you. While Alfa Romeo only includes on complimentary scheduled maintenance visit, you’ll enjoy up to 5 years or 60,000 miles of coverage from Jaguar.

Winner – Jaguar F-PACE
When it comes to things like standard equipment and warranty coverage, it’s easy to see the advantage offered by the Jaguar F-PACE. But it goes further than that. None of the Germans, not even Porsche, have a competitor that comes close to the power offered by the F-PACE SVR. None of them are anywhere near as attractively styled either. From practicality to luxury, the Jaguar F-PACE remains the ultimate SUV in its segment. Why settle for less?
