Jaguar’s flagship sedan model, the XJ nameplate stretches all the way back to 1968. A balance of sophistication and speed, the XJ was always the standard bearer for mainstream British luxury, with a healthy dose of motorsport heritage thrown in. Offered at various points with 4-, 6-, 8-, and even 12-cylinder engines, the newest XJ has a 340-horsepower supercharged V6 as standard, with the option of a supercharged V8 putting out 470 horsepower. For those craving ultimate power from the ultimate Jaguar sedan, there is the XJR575, a sport-forcused version of the XJ with the V8 tuned to make 575 horsepower.
For those who prefer a focus on luxury, there is the XJL, a long-wheelbase version of the already large sedan. That said, all XJ models are very luxurious. The newest ones come standard with heated and cooled rear seats and 20-speaker Meridian stereo systems. Adaptive cruise control is available, and there is even an option for self-parking.
