2024 Jaguar E-PACE vs. the Competition

Jaguar E-PACE VS The Competition at Jaguar Easton

The compact luxury SUV segment has seen huge growth in recent years, and your options when shopping for such a vehicle are more extensive than ever. In most cases, there isn’t much to separate these vehicles from one another. The mostly-German segment is dominated by boxy vehicles with uninspired driving dynamics. One glance at the Jaguar E-PACE tells you that you’re dealing with something different. But looks can’t tell you everything about how the E-PACE stands out, so Jaguar Easton has put together this thorough breakdown of the E-PACE compared to its competitors, let’s have a look!

Jaguar E-PACE VS Volvo XC40

The only other non-German brand on the list, the XC40 has better styling than most on this list, but certainly not better than the E-PACE. In terms of power, the two are pretty close though. The Jaguar gives you a bit more torque, which is further helped by the more advanced 9-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also find bigger wheels on the Jaguar, both as standard and as options. This adds to the presence of the E-PACE, which is already substantial thanks to superior styling.

Interior space is very important in this segment, and the E-PACE manages to deliver quite a bit more cargo space without any sacrifice in passenger volume. The E-PACE also gives you a power tailgate to access that cargo, something that’s optional on the XC40. Taking a closer look at the interior we see a lot of standard equipment in the Jaguar that’s either optional or not available at all on the Volvo. The 9-inch touchscreen in the XC40 is the only one offered, and is noticeably small than the 11.4-inch unit found in the E-PACE. The stereo in the Volvo can’t quite measure up to the Jaguar offering. Getting a better stereo in the Volvo will cost you extra. The E-PACE also comes with better seats and more power outlets, something that can’t be changed on the XC40.

Our next matchup is with the Mercedes-Benz GLB. From the start, you can see that the GLB is down on power compared to the E-PACE, and that the Jaguar also offers a more dynamic 9-speed transmission. Since this segment is popular with city-dwellers who need a compact to get in and out of tight spaces, the GLB’s almost 10 inches of extra length make it less practical. And while you might think that extra length gives the GLB more cargo space in the back, it doesn’t, the E-PACE comes out ahead there too.

The base price for the GLB is lower than the E-PACE, and that might make it look like a better deal, but looking down at what comes standard on the E-PACE and what costs extra on the GLB makes it clear that there is a reason why the price is initially lower. Even basic features like heated seats and blind spot assist cost extra in the Mercedes, and just selecting leather upholstery in the GLB costs an extra $1,450. A GLB with similar equipment as what comes standard on the E-PACE would cost well over $50,000. And even with those options, the infotainment touchscreen is still smaller, and you can’t have 21-inch wheels at all.

Jaguar E-PACE VS Audi Q3

Next up is the Audi Q3. We’ve selected the more powerful of the two engine options for the Q3 for this comparison, but even so, it falls short of the power output of the E-PACE by a significant amount. On top of that, the E-PACE has a 9-speed automatic transmission, compared to the 8-speed automatic offered in the Q3. The Jaguar comes with 19-inch wheels, something that is only available as an option on the Audi. And you can go up to 21-inch wheels for the E-PACE, but the Q3 tops out at 19 inches.

Audi isn’t going to nickel and dime you on equipment nearly as badly as Mercedes-Benz, but there is still a good deal of equipment that comes standard on the E-PACE and costs extra on the Q3. This includes traffic sign recognition and a premium stereo. Audi will also make you pay to upgrade to a bigger infotainment touchscreen, and it still won’t be as big as the one in the E-PACE. An important factor for car shoppers in Ohio is going to be winter weather. The Audi has standard heated seats and all-wheel drive, same as the Jaguar, but heated mirrors aren’t even an option on the Q3 and they come standard on the E-PACE. Jaguar also offers a cold weather package, which adds a heated steering wheel and heated windshield, features not offered on the Q3 at all.

Last up is the BMW X2, and the areas in which it falls short compared to the E-PACE are again pretty obvious. It’s low on power, and offers one fewer transmission speed as well. BMW offers a couple of very expensive appearance packages for the X2, but these don’t offer wheels over 19 inches, or LED headlights.

As you can see, very little is standard on the X2. This is all the more obvious when comparing it to the E-PACE, which offers a very long list of standard equipment. Even basic things like leather upholstery, heated seats, or lumbar support cost extra on the BMW. It’s not difficult to option the X2 up well past $50,000 and still not have the level of equipment you’d get in the Jaguar. It does have to be said that the BMW is better looking than the other German options, but it still isn’t as pretty as the Jaguar.

Jaguar E-PACE

Winner – Jaguar E-PACE

Every vehicle in this comparison is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged i4 engine, and all of them are very close in size as well. That means that the one that offers more power, more refinement, more standard equipment, or better styling is going to be the one that stands out. Fortunately, in this segment, it’s one vehicle that offers all of those things, the Jaguar E-PACE. And all that it has to offer should be experienced in person. So Jaguar Easton and our friendly and knowledgeable team are here to help you today.
